Spotlight: Ready to bring your funniest ideas to life? This beginner-friendly course will guide you through the fundamentals of sketch comedy. From brainstorming strong premises to crafting fully realized sketches. You'll learn the essential building blocks of a sketch, explore what makes comedy writing work, and participate in collaborative workshop sessions with read-throughs and feedback. By the end, you’ll walk away with a solid foundation in sketch writing and a few original pieces of your own. Your instructors are members of Bad Medicine, DC’s premier sketch comedy troupe. Trained by the Upright Citizens Brigade and Second City, Bad Medicine has performed at top North American festivals including SF Sketchfest, Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, Austin Sketch Fest, and NYC Sketchfest. They also co-produce DC Sketchfest and create award-winning short comedy films.

About the Instructor

Bad Medicine

The Bad Medicine Show is a high-energy sketch comedy spectacle that’s equal parts dark, cerebral, and delightfully absurd. It’s the perfect blend of smart and stupid fun from a merry band of DC friends who dive headfirst into the ridiculous. When we're not cracking up audiences at the legendary DC Improv Comedy Club, we’re hitting the road, bringing the laughs to comedy festivals like Toronto Sketchfest, SF Sketchfest, and Philly Sketchfest. Oh, and we don’t just perform, we teach the fine art of sketch comedy too.
